Montreal’s “Mines Without Borders” Protest

The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum held its 2011 Conference and Exhibition, entitled “Mines sans Frontières” from May 22 to 25 at the Palais des Congrès de Montreal. The Quebec Coalition concerned with the socio-environmental impacts of transnational enterprises in Latin America continues to denounce the numerous environmental and human rights violations that are taking place in the mining industry across Latin America and around the world.

In order to denounce such activities and inform the Canadian public of the challenges involved in Canada’s role in the mining industry, the Coalition organized a protest in front of the Palais des Congrès.
