Violence against Anti-Mining activists in Peru

Two people were killed in a clash with the national police in north-western Peru where anti-mining activists were opposing the establishment of a Chinese and UK owned mine in the rural province of Huancabamba, Peru. Local communities oppose the project due to the potential impact on water supply and agricultural activities in the area.
