Copenhagen Climate Change Conference: Newspapers around the world unite with one voice

In the wake of the Cophenhagen summit on climate change, 56 newspapers from 45 countries joined forces in an unprecedented manner through the voice of a common editorial.  They called on global leaders to take decisive action to overcome climate change.  Separately, activists hung climate change banners demanding action in  Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

Violence against Anti-Mining activists in Peru

Two people were killed in a clash with the national police in north-western Peru where anti-mining activists were opposing the establishment of a Chinese and UK owned mine in the rural province of Huancabamba, Peru.
